Loretta is Anmatyerr from Yuelamu, Northern Territory Australia. She comes from a family of strong painters and is a Traditional Owner of Inkwareny Anengkerr (Honey ant dreaming). She says ”I was born at Yuelamu, Mt Allan station when it was still a cattle station. I went to primary school here and secondary at Yirara Colledge in Alice. I met my partner in Laramba, where he is from. I have two boys and one grandchild. I follow my Grandfather and my Father’s dreaming, Inkwareny (honeyant). I learned painting from my parents. I used to see my Dad and Mum painting. I’m proud of painting. I love to do paintings and going hunting out bush, making artifacts. Having our own art centre means that we can sell our painting here. It’s important for our paintings”.
Loretta was the first chairperson of Inkwareny artists of Yuelamu and is currently on the committee.
